Yoga and Pilates at home: which mat, blocks, and ring?
Yoga and Pilates require almost no equipment, but what you do use must be reliable for every session. Below are the choices that truly make a difference.
The mat: thickness and grip
Grip is more important than thickness. A mat that slips in a downward dog makes the pose unsafe. For calm styles such as hatha, yin, and restorative, a thicker mat is more comfortable for knees and hips. For vinyasa, power yoga, and Pilates, a thinner, firmer mat works better because you feel more contact with the floor. If you practice on a hard floor, choose high density: it won't sink in.
Blocks: cork or EVA
Cork is sturdy, natural, and provides grip, even with sweaty hands. It weighs more and is harder if you sit on it. EVA foam is light and soft, comfortable under your back for supported poses, and easier to carry. Two blocks are more practical than one, as many poses require symmetry.
Yoga strap
A strap extends your arms. With tight hamstrings or shoulders, you can use it to perform a pose correctly instead of pulling with a bent back. Our yoga block set comes standard with a strap.
The Pilates ring
The magic circle provides resistance to your inner thighs, arms, chest, and core without lifting anything heavy. It is quiet, small, and works well in an apartment. Choose one with soft grips on both the inside and outside, so you can use it between your knees as well as between your hands.
Grip socks
On parquet, laminate, or a studio floor, you will slip in regular socks. Silicone grip on the bottom solves that problem, and in many studios, they are even mandatory.
The fitness ball
An anti-burst gym ball is versatile: core, balance, supported back exercises, and mobility. Size advice based on height: up to 1.65 m a 55 cm ball, between 1.65 and 1.85 m 65 cm, above that 75 cm.
You can find everything together in Yoga and Pilates, or all at once in the Yoga and Pilates Set.
